I'm come from the era of cassette tapes, so pardon my ignorance. Can I get any MP3 player, or should I get Ipod? I want to listen to podcasts. I also want to record. I see only one plug-in on my PC. Can I use this for downloading and for a recording mike as well? Is there a free audio site you can record on? |

I would presonally suggest getting an ipod. It comes with lots of other features aswell such as wifi. Its also easy and intuitive to get use to and has great search and playlist features. It will sync your podcasts directly from itunes (a program which you will be using to organize and play your music) if you are already familiar with it all the better. The only downside to it is that it dosn't play some random formats. but mostly it will play 90% of the formats out there. The things i like about ipods are, battry life, easy sync, orgnization, and the intuitive use. you don't have to got for the ipod touch even an ipod nano will do, that is what I have and i love it Hope this helps |

if you only plan on using it for music, sound, 8 gig should be good. However since it records hd video and you might want to record or store video podcasts, think about the 32 gig. However if you are only going for audio 8 gig should suffiece |

I had an ipod when they first came out and I hated it. I went with iriver. But, they seem pretty cool now so I'm thinking of getting a new one. Did Apple ever resolve those issues with their audio files being able to be played on other devices? I remember buying a song off itunes and it would only let me play it on my ipod or on itunes. That was a big issue for me at the time because if I pay for a song I should be able to listen to it on other devices, not just Apple hard/software.

@ NOJOBROB cool name :P I don't think apple has fixed that or is planing to fix that, but I don't purchase from itunes so I am not 100% sure. As much as I know apple still wants the itunes stuff played on their own stuff. |

You would transfer the digital audio from a recording device to your pc via USB - digitally, not via the analog audio inputs. What do you mean by free site to record on? | |
