Default Site Building Tool

Hi,
I was reading Steves site a month or so ago, and I came across a post that mentioned a site building tool that Steve users for his blog.

The problem is that I can't find the post any more! Does anybody know the tool Steve uses?

Or can anybody suggest other tools?

Cheers!

Although i don't use it myself, i hear dreamweaver is the best for this.
Macromedia - Dreamweaver 8
Although its not free.

If you want something free, this is okay too:
Nvu - The Complete Web Authoring System for Linux, Macintosh and Windows

Are you sure that he's not talking about wordpress? If you use wp or other CMS you don't need to waste your time with html and other stuff!

Wordpress is great for blogging or other situation where you add and archive content regularly. I think you have to decide what kind of site you want. Is it going to be e-commerce? Blogging? Collaboration? Then you can choose a content management system (CMS) that fits your needs. Chances are, one will be open source and available on Sourceforge (Wordpress isn't available at SF, but is free).

You can set up a wordpress blog quick at:
WordPress.com » Get a Free Blog Here

Its like blogger.com

But it does give you the url like example.wordpress.com if you don't mind that its fine.

Wordpress is excellent. Very easy to install yourself if you have a host that supports PHP and MySQL (and nearly all of them do these days). I've set it up for a bunch of friends and family as a really simple way to get them started. It not only handles blog-style posts, but also provides dynamically updated pages as well, so you can build a site with it.

If not, a host like Dreamhost only costs about $7/month.

I use Wordpress these days for almost everything. It's just so easy to add content, and your end result doesn't have to look like a blog.

If your host offers Fantastico, you get one-click installation and one-click upgrades.

I haven't dived into it fully but Leo Laporte and many of the very knowledgable former TechTV guys use Drupal. He runs the site The TWiT Netcast Network with Leo Laporte (covers the development of the web), Kevin Rose started digg and Chris Pirillo host a tech conference.

drupal.org | Community plumbing. It's blogging with more features and it doesn't too obviously look like a blog.
