| I've been slacking a little lately on the anti-virus front and need to kick it in gear again. I'd like something that's relatively cheap (or free!), low maintenance and reliable. I'm running Windows XP. Any suggestions?

| The best by the certifiers is the NOD 32 by Eset, i used AVG personal from Grisoft before i switched to Linux, it scored low from certifiers but it did the job, i compared NOD32 and AVG and they both recognized same viruses. I only don't know how would they score on new viruses, i think NOD would find most of them but AVG is constantly advancing and it's absolutely free for personal usage. Besides of that you should have a good firewall software like Kerio or Comodo firewall, and a Firefox with NoScript and AdBlock plugins - NoScript is especially useful because it stops malicious scripts to implant viruses and trojans in your computer. Hope this helps. |
