Default What is the advantage of wordpress over normal html?

Assuming you don't want comments at the bottom of your blog from other people, what reason is there to get wordpress?
When I look at this site, most of Steve's blogs actually look more like articles, so why not just create a normal html page instead of using wordpress?

Time and ease-of-use, basically. It's easier to edit a wordpress article than create a html file and upload it via FTP.

Plus, Wordpress is backed onto a database which means you don't have to create menu elements for each page - they are defined in a template, and archives and search are all handled for you.

*points up*

What he said. You just write, click a button and go. Making a whole page from scratch is tedious, especially as you have to lay everything out again where wordpress does it automatically.

Plus templates allow you to change the entire appearance of your site, every single page, with the press of a button. Try doing that with a static html site.

To put it in an analogy you are familiar with.

Writing a post on these forums is probably more difficult than writing a post on wordpress. (though not by much)

the same as above,
even though on HTML the processing is more faster in accessing but the development in building the website is going to be a headache if u intend to have a continuous writing(u've to make one page for each writing).

and why bother made a web site base on HTML when u've an open source CMS such as Wordpress, u'll have a community based forum that are going to help u and the CMS too have thousand of template design. it'll help u save the time and help you focusing on the content of the site even more.

It's flexible and updated often. Plus you don't have to worry about the inner workings of it. I say go for WordPress - you'll save a lot of time and if you're really into coding, it is easily customizable.
