I'm currently using Sony Vegas (on PC). I used Premiere before, and it's pretty good. However, Premiere seems to be relatively picky with video material, and Sony Vegas is a little bit better at handling different video formats and codecs.

Don't know if this would fit your needs, but there is a "Premiere Elements" version for cheap that might do what you need until you can spend some more. Haven't used it but have used Photoshop Elements and is fine for me. movie editor, movie editing software | Adobe Premiere Elements 8 |

Ha ha. =ToastMasters. . Your speaking is very polished in a professional way, very Toastmaster-y. If you've never heard of them, then I bow to you, most people don't have the natural ability to speak that well without ums, uhs, all sorts of non-words etc. Most importantly, your delivery itself is very polished. Meanwhile, I'm gonna have to pm you to find out who did your blog site. |

If you want your video to look professional, or just keep the viewers watching, you will want to use a combination of either Sony Vegas Pro. 7 (anything about Vegas 7.0 pro is good) and Adobe After Effects CS4 or Adobe Premiere with Adobe After Effects CS4.

You might want to check out Lightworks. It's an old professional grade video editor that is currently being made open-source by the guys that make EditShare (professional raids for Avid and FinalCut).
