Default Blog idea, Need comments

Hi there,

Ive started a blog recently, ill give the link if you guys wanna see it. Anyway, its for people who are bored and cant find something to do, so basically my objective is to entertain people. But what i do is get videos from other websites and i put them in my blog, basically like a collage of my favorite vids or anything entertaining for that matter,

would it be a bad idea? coz a lot of websites are doing that already? or can i still make an income out of the idea?

Thank you for your comments

To be honest, mate, I wouldn't bother. There are already thousands of websites out there doing just that, and you face some difficult copyright questions.
A far better alternative would be to produce your own content.

I tend to agree with Caveman. If you want to make income from it, original content is the way to go. Like you said, there are so many other sites already doing that. It would be nearly impossible differentiate yourself from others.

Another problem is that people would have no reason to stay at your site. They come, click a link and go. You would also have to compete with the likes of StumbleUpon and other social sites.

Would you throw gasoline on a burning house to try put out the fire?

It's mindless surfing of the Net that causes boredom in the first place. If someone is bored they need to log off the Net and go socialize with people, or read a book, or exercise. The last thing they need is to spend more time on the Net.

I'm not one who's predisposed to tell someone to don't bother just because someone else has done it before, but in your case you shouldn't bother. If you want to entertain people create some sort of original content to do it with. Your idea adds no value whatsoever, and is going to be impossible to differentiate yourself from better funded and better known competitors.
