Default Issue with Creating A static homepage on free wordpress blog

So I have now created a static homepage on my free wordpress blog, instead of the default homepage being the blog.

But now, the old blog got transformed into the homepage as well, and as this is the default page of the Theme I have, I can't find any way to edit this problem, either change the title from "blog" to "home" or delete this page.

Any one have any ideas of what to do?

The problem page is the first page up the top on the left, it says "blog" but really it is my homepage, I just don't know how to change the title from "blog" to "home"

If anyone could be of help I would be really grateful

This is the website where the problem is at NoSocialAnxiety

Hi Roxy,

I don't know how to fix the problem your having but you have a great site... you should totally get your own domain name for it. You would probably make a bunch more money with your site on a domain like NoSocialAnxiety.com (or whatever) anyway. Wordpress is easy to setup and use on your own hosting too!

No your ideas are good, and I will probably get a real domain at some point. I know it's taken unfortunately, so I have a few other ideas for website names

It's hard to point out the cause without a look under the hood. I assume deleting the first 'Blog' item in your menu would do for you?

Maybe your theme has options for that, otherwise you may need to dig into the theme's PHP files. I would guess that the menu is generated from header.php, so you could check for a line containing wp_page_menu there. Somewhere in the code above or within that line something is probably causing this.

Could you paste the HTML code from <div id="header"> till the end of the header.php file here? That might tell us what's going on exactly.

Or you could just contact the owner and offer them $50 for it. I guess they would take it because there site doesn't even work. Now that is a good idea

Try going to your control panel and goto 'Pages'. Then edit your Home page. On the right side middle, under 'Parent', set the parent page to something other than 'main page (no parent)'. This worked for me.

It's pretty easy to do - the hard part is usually finding out their contact info. If you can find a phone number or email you can just make them an offer for the site. Then you would need to go to GoDaddy.com and signup and let them know your username so they can transfer it to you. It's really simple to arrange the transfer... it's more difficult to actually get in contact with the owner and agree on a price.

If you can't find out the owners contact info a broker might be able to but they will charge you like $100 for their time plus the cost of the domain could be like $500 with one of these guys working on it. It depends if your up for paying a bunch of money for this... if your going to be the #1 social anxiety site then $600 isn't that much to invest.

Would be much better if you could contact the owner yourself - the domain alone really isn't amazing so not worth much to the owner. It's just great for you because you already have the site and a little brand going with it. I really do think that it's good to be congruent with one name - having a youtube, twitter and blog with one name and a site with another is sure to confuse people.

Anyway, the site that's up on the domain right now is duplicated a bunch of times on different domains with the only difference being the name used. The autoresponder that should be on the homepage doesn't work either so it looks like someone has set up this site and never done much with it. That's why I figured that they would probably sell for $50.

Search online for nosocialanxiety.com and see if you can find any contact info, you might be able to find a facebook page, twitter, phone number or email for the owner. If you can't send me a PM, I may be able to help.

EDIT - so yeah... when i said it was really easy I lied... lol
