Cool Is hit counter good?

hi guys and girls

I wonder whether a hit counter will be good for a blog. On one end its looks very cute and neat but on the other you will disclose how big your traffic is?

There is plus and minus. But i am sure of my blog traffic is going to get bigger. But when is the right time to place that counter?

For your information i do not see any counter in Steve's blog. Well keep it as a secret

regards

A blog is a good blog if it has a good content, don't matter (in my opinion) how many people hits the blog.
On top of that, every stats program has a way to manually increase the counter!

that is a good point. Would it be a good thing if your hits get higher and psychology of readers is influenced in effect.

If you see an assembly along the road you may wish to drop by and see what is going around there for such a crowd.

The second reason, we are being transparent that when we say our blog has crowd we also have the records to show. Will it be a plus point?

Personally I think they're outdated and unnecessary. There really aren't that many really successful sites using them. I'd give it a miss.

If you're serious about keeping track of your website traffic most webhosts offer this information. I'd suggest that you could also sign up for the Google Analytics service, which allows you to find not only how many people have hit your site but all sorts of interesting statistical data.

Google Analytics

I agree that hit counters look very amateurish and outdated.....

I tried to use that, but wordpress doesn't let you edit the template unless you buy updates for it

Are you hosting WordPress in your own hosting account, or is it a free setup?

It's a free setup. I need to learn web programming before I buy and design my own site. Unfortunately

Even if you're tech illiterate I'd almost suggest that getting a webhost just for Wordpress wouldn't be the worst $10 a month you'd ever spent. I use Dreamhost and they make WP setup a breeze and its pretty easy to administer even if you have very little tech know how. You can then edit your WP templates to your heart's content and even take advantage of Google Analytics...
