Default Mailing lists - which software to use

I'm busy setting up a website that will need to be able to manage at least 2 mailing lists, possibly more as the site evolves.

I've looked at phplist and Aweber but having had no previous experience with maintaining a mailing list, I thought I'd ask for some input from people who have.

Please let me know which system you prefer (if neither let me know what mailing list software you use)

Thanks

I've used Aweber and MailChimp and love Aweber. It's got great deliverability and integrates with everything. I manage about ten lists with it and have zero complaints at all.

Another vote for Aweber. I have been using it for over 2 years without any issues at all. I've managed over 20 different lists with it and it has been a great tool in my internet marketing tool box.

Commercial autoresponders such as Aweber is better than self-hosted solutions such as PHPlist just because of deliverability issues.

Aweber is very strict and requires double opt-ins and that may pose a problems for your business model.
MailChimp.com seems to be a bit more flexible in terms and more friendly toward API integration. I haven't used it personally but considering offering it as an alternative to the client that cannot accept strictness and inflexibility of AWeber.
I personally wrote integration script with AWeber and use it for a few years as well with no issues. So if you're basic starter WEB guy - Aweber is a good overall choice.
