I want to start building a website and place referral ads to various websites that offer prodcuts so I too can start to earn a passive income. My ONLY problem is a lack of technology skills. I am not the smartest cookie when it comes to computer skills but I have tons of knowledge for the public on exercise, fitness, relationships, confidence building and personal achievement. I want to get this information out. What do you suggest I use for a website building tool? Thanks, Mark Baldwin |

Hi Mark, If the technology is your only problem, then you are in fanstastic shape! It's usually the other stuff that causes the biggest problems (the motivation, the know-how, the content, etc.) The first step would be to get really clear about what kind of website you want to build. Do you want a content driven sites like steves, or a simple e-commerce store, or what? If you want to start a content-driven site and want to get started right away without investing a penny, then I suggest you open an account on WordPress.com » Get a Free Blog Here Their step by step process will have you up and writing your own blog in no time, and you'll get familiar with their system. More importantly, once you're comfortable with the process and have built up an audience, it is not hard to migrate from wordpress.com to you own domain name and original site design. If you want to start with a small investment, then you can buy your own domain name, get web hosting, and install wordpress for pretty cheap. If you want to go this route, then drop me a private message for more detail. Good luck!

And, of course, as one of the other posters suggested a blog is also a good place to start

It sounds like you have plenty of ideas bubbling up and have a cork in the form of a technology skill gap. All the suggestions posed so far are good ones though I would recommend starting with something like wordpress (I think somebody already provided a link). This person's suggestion of starting with a blog on a free wordpress domain was a good one. You can be up and running in minutes and it will allow you to get down to creating content. When you feel you are ready to expand as suggested, you can then consider registering a domain and doing a new site design. Good luck.

If you want to start putting up content quickly and without much of a technological learnng curve the blog is the way to go as the other poster noted. I will say that learning HTML is one of those things you won't regret doing--its like being able to fix your own car. It takes some time to learn but it'll save you a lot of money in the long run and you can always be sure that its done right.
