I'm noticing that when I get stumbled... there is a significant increase in traffic My average days are about 200 visits... My best day after stumbling has been a little over 600 visits! I don't know how everyone else is doing, but this is pretty incredible for me. I would love to get a little bit more organized with this. How is everyone else communicating the posts you want stumbled? I've submitted it through SU a couple of times, but that seems kind of hit and miss. If anybody is interested in making this a little more consistent, then let me know how I can best get my posts to you for stumbling, and how you can most easily get your posts to me for the same. keep smiling, Ben |

Ben, I have the same experience: hit and miss. I finally though I found the way to submit to all my friends at once (right click on one of my favorites) but that resulted in an email I sended out to all friends. I had some traffic from that, but mainly you guys visiting me Another thing I noticed is that SU traffic comes in waves. You hit a peak and than it slows down and stops. I am a bit curious, how are you all doing? I am receiving some traffic from SU, but I think it can be better. Do you like it when I send a link through SU? Is this working? I don't get too many request from you guys to look at and review your pages, so I think we can improve a bit. Btw, new SU friends are always welcome! Hello everyone stumble upon is incredible for getting traffic. I have seen it's power many times on sites i have run. The thing it only works if someone else submits your site and lots of people thumb it up. I have added everyone on this thread as my friend and will stumble your sites when i can please add me my user name is: FaramarzKhaze and my site is below |

Initially, I was only sending one post a week, but if it doesn't bother anybody, I'll send more. I'll stumble as many decent articles as I'm sent, so I have no qualms about sending more. I definitely think we can do better... I have had very inconsistent spikes of traffic... I would like more consistent spikes of traffic... How's everybody else doing? Does everyone understand how to share content?
Hopefully this helps... it took me a while (and some help from Patrick) to figure this out. keep smiling, Ben

I wrote an article on my blog August 18. I went from 14 hits on the 17th, to over 1200 on the 18th. My article was on James Leininger, the little boy who remembered being a WWII pilot in a past life. After the bump, my traffic settled down to about 50-100 hits a day, before this last weekend when it went through the roof again. I had over 2500 hits over a 3 day period. Stumble Upon can be your friend. My SU name is Indy107 and my blog is listed below. Add me if you like |

I've found StumbleUpon to be quite hit and miss really. It's good for bringing in a lot of traffic very quickly, although like most social bookmarking sites, it tends to die off after a few days. The one difference is that it keeps sending visitors for a very, very long time. I still get hits from articles published years ago. The main problem is that Stumblers aren't always in the mood to read or interact with your site, so only a few percent will actually stay to read your page or comment. My SU username: Sodaware |

Hi Phil. Welcome to our SU list, I added you. SU is hit and miss for me as well. Btw, I think SU is changing a bit. From what I heard is that subscribing to ones SU favorites is getting more important. Does anyone know something about this? |

Alright, I've been bitten. Luckily, I use Google Chrome, so I'm sans-toolbar. Hopefully that'll stop SU eating up too much of my time! My username is PipHunn. I'm in the process of adding people on the lists, I'll check out material as it gets updated. *5 minutes later* Whoah. The Internet's pretty cool. |

Hello everyone! I'm kinda new to SU too as well, but I'm already in I'll be adding everyone in this thread as well, so if I manage to skip anyone please feel free to correct it by adding me instead ^^ My username is: abetterfuture And my humble personal entries are just below. If I have any questions regarding SU, I'll be resorting to the experience you guys and girls already have, if that's ok with you... |

Hi everyone, I think I managed to subscribe to everyone at Stumbleupon. I'm pretty new to using it, so any tips on how to stumble people's posts efficiently would be appreciated (it looks like using the friends button on the stumbleupon toolbar is an easy way to do this)... I'll start stumbling... My stumbleupon user name is: applezen The website I contribute to is in my signature below. You can subscribe to the latest articles via RSS at the site. Good luck to all and thank you to pschriel for starting this post - that was awesome! PS. I've just given a thumbs up to 2 of my visitors at SU. Thanks all! I've subscribed to everyone on the list, and can see their web pages easily enough. However, I still can't get the 'share' function to work with other SU users. Is this a 'friends' problem? The only reference I can find to SU 'friends' asks for my email address, presumably to check with other users. Not using a Hotmail/Gmail account, I'm a bit stymied there. Obviously I'm missing something - what is it? |

You are not missing something. Stumbleupon is changing to v4 and I think they are still working on it. For this new version it is important to subscribe to others (friends). From what I know this is the same as friends in the older version. I will subscribe to you (and the others in this thread).

Hi Jayanuaria, Your welcome. Here's a tip. Lately I've been using Su.pr to add my posts to Twitter and Stumbleupon. The funny thing is that Su.pr (owned by Stumbleupon) is actually inviting you to thump up your own post. Every time I do this I get a nice jump in traffic (100+) from Stumbleupon. I have a pet peeve with some stumblers. These are people who send me a message asking me to look at their page and give it a thumbs up if I like it. I look at the page and give it the thumbs up and attempt to send a reply to the personal message and receive a message from Stumbleupon that the user's inbox is full and the message is not deliverable. If a friend wants me to look at his/her site enough to send me a personal message then please have the courtesy to read your own inbox and clear space for replies from me. I don't like it and I do not stumble for those who repeatedly bounce replies from me because their inbox is full. End of rant! |

I am unsure if your explanation is the answer but I also do not have any other theory.
