Default Is there any reason bounce rate would be high for search engines, but low for links?

The last site I launched has shown about a 60% bounce rate from forum and blog carnival links. However, traffic from search engines, which should be more targeted, bounces 90% of the time. I don't have any ads or affiliate links that they could be bouncing away to. Something is fishy.

I'd rather not link to it - sorry - I would rather not associate my real name with this screen name. But if anyone could throw out some possibilities, based on principle, that'd be great.

It is also not spammy, looks neat, and usually answers the exact queries that googlers type in. But for some reason they don't stay to read it...

If they get their answer on the first page, and you don't have an exceptionally funny or sticky style that makes readers want to look at articles they didn't come for in the first place, why would they?

Oh - I should add that according to Google Analytics, every bounce has spent virtually no time on the page (zero seconds). On the other hand, from what I see, every single visitor that only visits one page also spends zero seconds on it. So, maybe it is a flaw in the analytics software?

The analytics software doesn't know everything about the visitor but makes a good guess.

So I've heard, but the occurrence of all 1-page visitors spending virtually no time on the page seems a lottery-esque improbability.

0 seconds means that Google Analytics hasn't received information from the visitor about using the website after the visitor made his first GET request.

So, just scrolling doesn't give google any information right? They would have to click some actual links or buttons to leave traces?
