Default Favorite Wordpress plugins?

For fellow bloggers ...what are some of the Wordpress plugins that make your blog management life easier?

For me, it's WP-Contactform, which allows me to hide my email from spammers, and Google Sitemap generator which makes it easier for Google to index my site.

Alex, Here's my list, for different purposes

(1) Site Traffic & Analysis
- Without the Google Analytics plugin, I would have to manually insert the code into the different pages.
- You need to register with Google Analytics for this but it's definitely worth the effort as it's so much more informative than the AWstats that comes default with any webhosts...

(2) SEO Optimisation Purposes
- I love the Optimal Title plugin. It helps to insert my site title into all the Title Tag.
- Ultimate Tag Warrior to help me manage my keyword tags and it pings technorati too.

(3) Increase Page Views
- Definitely Related Posts plugin. It calls up simliar topical articles for readers to visit.
- Popular Posts plugin retrieves my articles that has been frequently visited.

(4) Comments Management
- Askismet plugin that is defaulted in a wordpress installation. It's very good in dispelling spam. Almost 100% accurate in differentiating good comments vs real spam.
- Subscribe To Comments plugin. Gives commentors a choice to be informed of replies to their comments. Helps to engage readers.

There are somemore plugins that I've used, but the above are in my opinion the best in helping me to manage my site.

I must admit I have a number of WordPress installs, but I don't use any plugins. I do have Share-It, which I still haven't installed...

I am going to check some of these out.

Here are some I use...
  • Adsense-deluxe - Handy if you use google adsense.
  • AutoMeta - Automatically generates meta and technorati keyword tags based on your post. It's not perfect, but very handy. Automatically generates a few from your post, then you can add any it missed.
  • Custom Query String - Allows you to change the number of posts for different sections. e.e Home page, archives, category etc rather than having one globally defined setting.
  • Google Sitemaps - As already suggested ^^
  • PostsInCategory - Inserts a list of posts in a given category in a post or a page
  • Related Posts - As already suggested ^^
  • WP-Amazon - adds the ability to search and include items from Amazon to your entries. This plugin adds a button called “Amazon” on the post page. Make sure to configure the plugin before using
  • Word Press Database Backup - On-demand backup of your WordPress database
  • Sociable - Automatically add links on your posts to popular social bookmarking sites e.g. technorait, delicious, furl, digg etc.

Excellent suggestions thus far.

However, I much prefer the Google Analyticator from Cavemonkey50.com. It's lightweight and elegant.

I second Arne Brachhold's Google Sitemap Gen

I'd also highly recommend Green Beast's contact form plugin. Flexible, customizable, and very compliant.

Good times had by all.

I use Share This by Alex King instead of Socialable.

I also use Top Commentators and to try encourage discussion on my blog.
