Can anyone recommended to me their favorite tutorial books on: * Photoshop (version 7.0 and up) * XHTML * HTML 4 * CSS I'm a sort of a beginner in all these subjects and there are so many books on the market, that I'm confused. I would rather read books recommended by smart folks (people in the Steve Pavlina forums Thanks in advance |

Photoshop: Good Tutorials is probably going to teach you a lot more than any book. XHTML/CSS: Try Bulletproof Web Design or Web Standards Solutions by Dan Cederholm or CSS Mastery by Andy Budd (though this book is geared toward more advanced users). I hear Beginning CSS Web Development by Simon Collison is also good, though I haven't read it yet. |

Unfortunately I learnt all those at Uni so I can't offer any books on the subject. However, I usually directed my classmates to Lissa Explains it All -- HTML Help and Tutorial for Kids when we were learning HTML and CSS. It may be a HTML help website for kids, but it is VERY informative and easy to follow.

On that note, Grey Cobra also has some nice Photoshop tutorials.

| This Book is one of the best I have seen if you are loking to design with CSS and HTML. Its geared a bit more towards beginners, so if you know the basics, then I would step up to this one instead. The majority of SitePoint books are excellent though.

| Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML from what I've seen is a great book if you're just getting started with HTML and CSS. Whenever I'm working on a site I keep the CSS Pocket Reference on my side at all times. |
