Default Converting .mov to compressible video format

My camera produces quicktime .mov files. I'd like to compress the video file to something much smaller. I've searched online, and downloaded and tried fxbear mov video converter, however I'm not satisfied with the substantial reduced quality.

Any suggestion for some preferably free software to convert and reduce the size of my .mov files to mpeg-4 without losing much quality?

Thanks! I used it and the video quality is really good now - it's what I'd expect while the file size is comparable. Unfortunately now the video runs twice as fast...! And the audio still runs at normal speed so it doesn't match at all anymore the video.

I changed the setting, re-ran it, and now the video is really great quality and runs normal speed, file size is reasonable (10x smaller), and audio is good! I'm quite happy, thanks ruchirkc .
