ProjectX will become famous soon enough
Default What is a good software for picture editing?

I want to make a visualization board. I know there is Adobe Photoshop but the software is far too big, and too demanding on the CPU. So I was wondering if there is a more lite version that work similarly?

Yah, it's a memory and processor hog.. it's $500+ price tag is overkill too..

I like and usually use Paint Shop Pro (think you can even download the trial and use)

But there's also.. publisher (comes with office) and I recently noticed that Microsoft Office Picture Manager isn't too bad.. (very, very basic)

Technically speaking you can use paint if you want too (comes with windows) but it lacks useful basic features like crop (or doesn't do it right)

If I were doing a digital visualization board I'd probably go publisher.. as it should supports sizes for giant print outs like those for art isles etc. and it really has great ability to move around photo's, words etc. but I may be biased.. publisher is meant for business cards, flyers etc. , paper printing.. its equivalent product is called Quark and is the main one I'm told used in the industry..

If you just want to throw text and images together, and don't do actual photoretouching, I would just go with InkScape. It's free and reasonably easy to use.
