Default How to add a "Journal/Blog" feature to a site?

Hey guys, I plan to add a journal feature to my website (it isn't fully launched yet), we're still customizing it. I'm not really tech savvy, but I've been doing quite some research but I haven't found anything that helps. What I would like to do is add a feature like in the following websites:

MySpace. If you have an account, then you may be familiar with the blog to the right side of a profile. Just click on any profile an there should be a journal/blogging feature.

Bodybuilding.com - The Future Of Bodybuilding! Huge Bodybuilding Site. This is by far the most amazing journal/blogging feature. Try makign an account and it will give you the chance to blog your experiences with pictures and so on. It will also give you charts of your progress and what not.

This is the kind of thing I want for the website. I'm really excited about it, as I really get to give something back. I know that Steve uses a really cool software journal, but if I was to buy that one, would it allow me to set it up so that every registered member in my website uses it? Do you know any software that accomplishes this? Or tips on how to research how websites like Myspace or Bodybuilding do this? All of your help will be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure but I know that bodybuilding forum uses vbulletin. Maybe they have some type of blogging plug-in.

So you want a page where people can create their own blogs/journals? If so, consider this:

WordPress MU › Home

I used that for a while on one of my sites, and it was pretty easy to customize overall. I eventually deleted it because my traffic (at the time) was low, and the people who did register for the blog weren't using it.

Thanks a lot Chris Cade! And you too Breakaway!

I just downloaded WordPress MU and I will begin to check out its use right away and keep you updated.

By the way, awesome content on your website! Does it have an RSS feed though?

Hi Daniel,

I responded on the other thread - unfortunately no RSS feeds When I had it redesigned I didn't know enough about RSS, SEO, and traffic in general... I instead went for custom functionality (about 25% of which I've since ditched).

I've considered moving over to Wordpress, but it's just such a pain to re-enter all of the stories, redo the 301 redirects, and all the other stuff that goes along with it. And there's some custom functionality I love that makes the site super-easy to update as well as just more fun.
