Ok, so Goldilocks subscribed to a thread she finds interesting. Say, discussing Steve's latest blog posting. Some time later, she returns to the forum, clicks "Quick Links", clicks "Subscribed threads"... and sees that the thread of interest has a dark blue title... which means there's at least one new reply to that thread since the last time she looked at it. How does she jump directly to the first unread reply in that thread? Jumping to the start of the thread is easy (TOO COLD!) Jumping to the very last reply is easy (TOO HOT) But she can't figure out how to jump to the first unread message (JUST RIGHT). Would someone please explain how to do that before this example completely falls apart? |

Oh wow thanks seeker5! I ... I mean "she" ... never noticed that before and I've been hanging around here since this forum started. Strange that function is kind of hidden, while the completely useless "reply" link is prominent. What's the point of replying to a thread before you read it? Steve, if you read this, please consider replacing the "reply" link with "Go to first unread". I'd argue that those two are the only really important actions on the subscribed threads page. imho this is a case where the Go To statement should not be considered harmful |
