I think what I like are games that don't include a lot of violence and where you interact quite a bit with other characters, and also a lovely built 3d environment with quite a bit of detail, with architecture and characters.
Here's one that should be right up your alley then: Amazon.com: Syberia: Video Games

The games you seek are definitely available, but they're not the headline grabbing blockbusters you see on every gamer site (most of which are targeted heavily at hardcore gamers)

Correct me if im wrong, b/c i am no expert, just going on what i heard/read, but games are usually on tight deadlines so being only 5 developers on your team, your hours must be extremely long. I remember reading an article by a 'wife' of a developer that worked at EA that worked 7 days week and 12 hour days almost all year around. What are the hours like for your job?
Overworking is extremely counter productive. Even if it's work that you love, making games wears you out if it's all you do. If you want to maximize productivity you have to acknowledge the value of rest.

I know a Swedish development studio that more or less banned overtime, they realized how much progress was lost because of tired workers pushing on. And it was the company that realized this and enforced this on the employees. Game developers love their job so much they don't want to go home and can't see the drawbacks of working long hours.

I reckon I could put one of these games together as well, if I just got a bit better at AS.

Agreed. A short sprint to make a deadline is fine, but don't make it a regular occurrence.

Yep I do buy them I have about six from bigfishgames, but I do get sick of them and don't go back to them for a while. I like the ones with really detailed graphics.

@ellie: Ever play Morpheus (from Soap Bubble Productions)? That's a Myst-style game that was developed primarily by my father-in-law and his brother.
