I bought my first computer in 1999. I've been on it almost every day since then and soon became addicted to the net. Less than ten years later the internet has come along way and almost everyone has a pc with internet access now. Kids are becoming millionaires by creating niche websites for fun. Nobody knows where its going to go at the moment. I rarely watch television any more because I can go directly to interesting documentaries, interesting television recordings, interviews, lectures and demonstrations on YouTube. Surely before long we will be able to view movies almost instantly from the internet. Video happens to be my favourite hobby. Besides making wedding videos how soon do you think it will be before a local business wants a television style commercial on their site? What is the future for video on the internet? |

Mashup/Annotated videos. I don't know how familiar you are to all this, but I think you'll like this video service. They were a startup that Google just bought. Now they're part of the YouTube team. So stick around to see what's coming next. |

** Important Changes We have disabled the ability to create and annotate new videos on omnisio.com - however you can still watch and embed the videos that we already have. If you would like to annotate your videos, check out the new annotation feature over at YouTube. Account functions have also been disabled. If you have any questions please contact us. | |

Developments that are related to video and will change how we watch it. 3DTV, for one. theres a company thats negotiating distribution and hardware deals, so thats coming soon. Heads up displays - the image floats in the air in front of you. I've seen some amazing prototypes. The screen moves with your head. Screen sizes is an obvious one. They're getting bigger and multiplying like processors. compression technologies - Flash video revolutionized it. Better compression means higher quality per file size and download/viewing speed. Also greater portability. Witness portable video players. Several techs are in the offing there. Internet plus flexible programming plus keyword searches will see a coming on demand TV. programs that have content of interest will be cued for review. Programs of choice will be watchable or downloaded on demand. No TV schedule, just selection. Access like YouTube and the ability for anyone to create and have it seen is only in its infancy. Video phones are a reality today with tools like Skype. More widespread than people realize but still need hacking to get it right. Its not just about free long distance but free video long distance. In the film Minority Report, video ads displayed on the walls, personally addressing him as he walked by. That tech is already here now, without needing to see your eyes. RFID means always connected - in good and bad ways Whats even more interesting is how this will converge. 3D + video phone = star wars. Add Presence and heads up for 3D videophone that "walks" with you, like having your caller as a companion. Put them on hold and go back to that classic film while we walk the dog. (laughs) |
