Someone started a thread about Twitter and I thought it would be a good idea to have a separate thread for forum users to post links to their Twitter accounts. I don't know how many of you use Twitter, but I personally think it would be nice to follow like minded people; chances are we are sharing links, thoughts and ideas on PD on Twitter every once in a while, if not frequently. I post in 2 languages, English and Portuguese, under 2 separate accounts. Follow me in English: Twitter / patriciamuller Follow me in Portuguese: Twitter / pattymuller Post your links too and find interesting folks to follow. And if you know of any PD related Twitter account that other forum members might be interested in following, post it too. ps.: I already posted this link in the other thread, but I think it's worth sharing this link to a Twitter guide in this thread as well, for those of you who are not familiar with it: The Big Juicy Twitter Guide | Caroline Middlebrook Last edited by Patricia; 10-13-2008 at 08:17 AM. Hi, I just recently set-up my software company on Twitter. I don't have a personal account yet, but that's probably not a bad idea! Good post, and a good idea. See you all on twitter! Username: Higher Symmetry Twitter Account |

I'm just jumping on the bandwagon, so I'm learning how to use it bit by bit. It seems like a pretty cool thing to use to make and keep connections. So, do any of you bloggers have a Twitter account? Would you like to become Twitter buddies? Twitter / MattFYF Even if you aren't a Twitter-er with a blog, feel free to add me. All connections are welcome! And while it can be indulgent, that really depends on the user. I love Twitter's organizing potential. I can just say "Hey, I'm at place x, do you want to join me, and make a mini-conference?"

I think I have terrible luck - I'm able to get online for ~10 minutes before I have to go to a play rehearsal, and Twitter decides not to load! Quote:

Sorry, I'm a part of the skeptical crowd. I just don't see any real use for the tool, it sounds just like another Social Networking fad that will eventually fall due to loss of self-interest and social whims. Why would people care whether I went to the Grocery Store, or bought a two dollar cup of coffee, or anything else I could be doing "right now"? I just don't see the practicality behind the concept.

I also only update my blog aybe once a week, cause I want the posts to have value in them. I don't feel the need to post that I am working on say, an ebook. Mini update are cool, can could be used for many things for a blogger. For instance, you could let people know what you are doing, which can turn into a detailed post, which makes Twitter like a preview. You can let people know of insights that occur to you on the fly that don't fit elsewhere. For instance the other day I put "My new favorite oxymoron is "Gourmet Hotdogs', lol.

Dang, as soon as I voice my skepticism towards Twitter, Steve goes ahead and signs up So are you saying this is why most people join? Because it's a fun and social experience for them? Quote:
Now I'm not a big fan of criticizing social tools I've never used before, as I don't know everything about it before trying it out, but I just don't see the point behind telling total strangers what I had for breakfast this morning. I suppose if others could convince me why or persuade me with a practical reason to use it, it wouldn't sound so dumb, and there's more to the concept than just what's been presented to me.

Theres plenty of uses for Twitter, but I see it as a branding tool mainly, and a way to keep in contact and interact on a meta level. Plenty of times I come up with quips and insights that wouldn't do well as a 2500 word blog post. In fact, don't always want to be long winded, but I also don't want to use up blog posts for tiny updates and little things. So I am using that on my blog as almost my mini blog. I also only just signed up, so I haven't really started leveraging it. I do love how I can Tweet from my phone.

| Creating Passionate Users: Is Twitter TOO good? is the best description of twitter I think. It has the advantages and disadvantages of an instant medium.
