Default What's a "decent" bounce rate?

Obviously, yet probably not possible, you want a bounce rate near 0% for your website.

Since that is obviously never going to happen, what is a typical bounce rate for a website? My company has a website for our note software, and we have had a steady increase in traffic and a gradual drop in our bounce rate percentage. So what percentage would be "decent" to maintain?

What does everyone else have?

I wish I knew. It switches up on my site everday.

I think anywhere under 25% would be good, because every 1 in 4 person would either be staying or clicking out.

I think that question is meaningless without content.
If you have a lot of google searches that bring a lot of untargeted traffic you will get a higher bounce rate.

The more focused your visitors the lower your bounce rate.
In a perfect world you would only want a lot of highly interested focused visitors.

In the real world, just having more visitors is often a good thing.

See the Google Analytics project lead discuss bounce rate here,

YouTube - Successful Web Analytics Approaches by Avinash Kaushik

...he says it's the single most useful/important site metric around. I think he also says that a 2/3 bounce rate is typical, which my own experience has borne out, for overall site bounce rates. Hard to get below that, but of course, specific pages on your site could do far better or worse.

If you compare Apples to Oranges, you won't get far even when you have a "good" metric.

Default Survey says...

According to Analytics, my bounce rate is under 1%. (For my blog, Face Your Fork). So, less than 1/100 visitors leave my site after viewing one page. Keep in mind that I generally write longer, more in-depth articles, and since it's a personal development blog people are more likely to stick around and read more than one blog post at a time.

I would agree with saying that anything under 25% is good, because not everybody is going to have a super-sticky site, and not every visitor is going to want to stick around and read everything you have to say.
