Default How to know if you already consume 15MB surfing the internet?

Good day to all,

Guys can someone please explain to me or give me some software or any tool so that I can monitor if I already consume 15MB by searching the internet?

Because this the reason why I am asking, Here in my company some of the employee is allowed to use the internet but we should not exceed more than 15MB. I ask some IT officer they said that while we are surfinf the net we are consuming some amount of bytes or kilobytes. I ask them how can I monitor my self if I already consume 15MB? because it will be easy to them to accuse me or someone that they exceed 15MB.

So anybody can help?

I'd say the help you need would be to find a more enlightened employer (or none at all).

The whole idea is pretty lame.

LOL

And if you're going to use Steve's advice, prepare for a long journey... now I'm serious.

15 MB is very little nowadays. It's only enough to check e-mail. Intense web surfing will spend it in 4 hours. So prepare for punishment.

BTW I used to work in companies with no internet at all... that's not scary if your work doesn't need it.

Get a web browser that can disable images, flash and stuff like that. It will save you bandwidth. I know Opera can do this, probably others too. Don't download it at work though, as that would probably be enough to exceed your limit, so would Windows auto update for that matter.

Good advice!

But isn't it an IT dep-t job, to turn off Windows update, to monitor traffic (transparently for user) and to shut it down when it's over the limit?

Seems like all this is made intentionally by an employer, to increase fear, as Steve describes in his "10 reasons why you should never get a job". Under sush conditions it's very easy to go over the limit and to be punished...so, be afraid and obey?
