| Hi everyone. I'm new to adsense. But got it all set up, then tried to copy & paste the adsense html (as I usually copy and paste any html to put stuff on my site) Absolutely nothing happened! What is different about this html? Does anyone know? Why can't it be straightforward? |
| |||
| Do you mean there is just an empty space (different to no space)? Adds take a bit of time before they start appearing (an hour would be a generous wait).

| Yes,it usually takes some time before the ads show up for a new site. If they don't you could give us a link to your page so we could take a look at your HTML code.

| Thanks. What I mean is, usually when transferring html code I get a 'box' comes up on my screen, giving me options about transferring the code, I click on an option, then get another 'box' to access the clipboard. Nether of these came up, so something was just not working at all. And absolutely nothing came up on my page. Which is not how transferring html usually goes. Everything seemed absolutely dead. Zilch. It could be that the web-editor is not allowing the html on. When putting on Paypal buttons, they wouldn't function correctly either, and I had to use hyperlinks (Which work) (I once gave out our URL on another tech. support site earlier in the year, and the next morning, we were googled all over the 1st page!! with attendant problems and insecurities! As our URL is keyword-rich, I guess that could happen again, and it gives me the heebie-jeebies) Anyway (like jumping into a tank of cold water)....here it is, so feel free to check it out if you like: Herbal Tinctures Supplies - HOME |

| Uh-oh....I like Comic Sans....too bad. Thanks for all your comments and help. This website was set up by a web-package, which reckons itself as being ok. Obviously not. My browser had no problem with it, so I had no idea what might be going on. We live and learn. |

| Doesn't matter. What matters is how other people (your potential clients) think about Comic Sans. To the general population, Comic Sans says "don't take me (too) seriously!" Is that how you want to come across? Type matters! Good type can't save bad product, but bad type can certainly ruin good product.

| Ok, Jim, thanks. I'll take that on board. I didn't know there was such a big deal about Comic Sans! It was just a font I liked, as it looked slightly less 'formal'. And as feedback on our site's appearance was always very positive and people into buying herbal products didn't seem bothered about Comic Sans, I never thought about it before. I quite like Tahoma, too. (hope that's not got history) Sounds like change would be a good thing. By the way I looked at the html. Not knowing very much at all about html, I wasn't sure what I was looking for. All I can say is some of it did certainly look well wacky, even to my untrained eye! I've no idea the implications of this, or what to do about it, except re-build the whole site on a different web-editor. |

| One thing that definitely stands out is your editor's liberal use of the long ago deprecated FONT tag. You should definitely use CSS for that instead. I'd recommend reading up a bit on HTML and CSS, as that will certainly help you pick a more suitable editor from the pack. Apple has a nice (and short) best practices page for web development: Web Page Development: Best Practices
