Default Journaling software for Ubuntu?

Hi. I know Steve really likes a particular piece of journaling software for windows. I was wondering if anyone uses a journal program for ubuntu that's really good.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I don't know any. But you might want to try to run Steve's journaling software using Wine.

Hey,

You probably use gnome; but KDE's Kontact has a little journal tool. Nothing big but it works.

When I asked about The Journal on the Ubuntu forums, I was directed to BasKet Note Pads. I haven't used it myself, but you might check it out. Also, you could use The Journal (the one Steve recommends) by running it in Wine.

You could use Celtx. It's made for screenwriting, theatrewriting and more, but could probably work nicely for journaling too. It's cross platform (Linux, OS X, Windows) and based on the Mozilla framework (same as Firefox).

There is also Xournal, which is kind of a clone of MS Journal for Tablet PC's, but that's only if you want to do handwritten journals on the computer.

I have heard of something called eJourn on some thread on Ubuntu forums. It had a few good reviews. I have not tried it though. Maybe you can give it a try

eJourn

eJourn is rather simple, but useful tool - however, it doesn't have so many options like The Journal.

--------

I use The Journal on Ubuntu 8.04 (and I used it on 7.10 too), it works good, "minimize to tray icon" doesn't work (but you may install Alltray, it should be in repositories). Sometimes some errors appears, but they aren't serious.
