Default Raymond Kurzweil

Raymond Kurzweil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Any thoughts regarding this incredible mind? He predicted so much that is happening today years ago and his predictions about the next 100 years will blow your mind and is actually believable.

The idea of "waking up" the universe is fascinating. Amazing stuff.

I think the singularity stuff and the anti-aging stuff (see also: Aubrey de Gray) is the most fascinating research he does.

The idea of intelligent machines building even more intelligent machines is kind of scary in a matrix sort of way but I think it's kind of inevitable too that we will eventually reach that point.

A few days ago Glenn Beck had Ray Kurzweil as a guest on his show on CNN... I didn't really enjoy it, it seemed like he was just skimming over the talking points without really taking the time to understand the ideas Kurzweil was putting forward. Then again I tuned in near the end, maybe he was just trying to cram in more info in the end after a deeper discussion and I just missed the good part. Anyone else see it?

Anyway, Kurzweil is definitely a visionary guy... I need to buy a book of his; I'm sure it'd be a great read.

I think his ideas are interesting IF and ONLY IF they are implemented safely.

You seem not to understand what his main idea, that of singularity actually mean.
There is a point after which you can't predict anything.

To to something safely you need to be aware of the consequences.

He's cool. But in my opinion, I think he should take fewer vitamins. You can apply an extreme and technological mindset to technology, but the body has its own natural system as well. It may also help him to look brighter and shinier and healthier. The body has its own natural antioxidants as well, no need to take 150 or so pills per day, ya know.

Yes but the body is designed to fail. Kurzweil is in a sense fighting against his body by slowing down its degeneration. If he dramatically reduced his vitamin intake he would probably die sooner.

Do you realize how silly that is? The body is designed to be harmonized with, not fought against or bombarded with external vitamins.
There is no reason to strain the body and the liver by taking pills in excess.
