In general you can message him, google (if he has an adsence account) and/or his provider to request that he takes the article that he stole down.

I'm not sure what the copyright laws are but I have had this happen lots of times and I'm glad when people do it, it gets the word out. As he has credited the source and links back to you I'd be cool with that. I don't really see a downside. You're likely to see more traffic to your site and you're building up your own credibility as an expert because people are bothering to quote you!

Well you have a point there but... Imagine if I just wait until Steve write a new article and publish it here and I copy the whole article and put it on my blog and put a simple source (via stevepavlina) down the page where nobody see it and then people start commenting that they liked tha article and give me credit for the article even if I wasnt the author (What credibilty win steve for writing the article if nobody knows?). I dont think Steve will be cool with that! I dont really think thats good because someone its taking credit for others hard effort. And if thats good to do it then everybody can have a blog becuase you just copy other articles from others sites and put it on your blog and you dont even have to write anything. I dont have a problem with him putting my article on his blog but Im mad because He didnt clarify that he got the article from my blog just a simple link down the page to my blog not even to the original article. Anyway thank for the comment!

something a bit similar happened with the content of Steve's blog. It seems that an author plagiarized some of his content to put it in a written book. Steve wrote an article to tell the story http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/200...lished-author/

Not sure where you're at with it. But technically you can issue a DMCA letter to his hosting company. Lots of places to look up hosting company from URL. And usually they don't want hassle and will take it down. Here's a link to sample letter: AuthorsLawyer.com: Copyright: Piracy Personally I think DMCA is overboard, but it's your content. Do with it what you'd like. -OJ

There are many different approaches to handle content theft, from notifying the hosting company, to contacting the person directly, etc. Some people don't even go through the trouble of manually copying and posting someone else's content, but instead find ways to automatically pull content from other blogs into theirs, usually through your RSS feed. This seems to be happening more and more often and it's just a way people find to make money from AdSense or other types of monetizing options the easy way. I've seen people handling this kind of content theft by 1) contacting the blog owner first, then if that doesn't work, 2) posting a small paragraph in the beginning of each article saying something to the effect of "This article has been originally posted at xyz.com, if you're reading it somewhere else, you're reading from a website that is stealing content, blah blah blah...". - or something among those lines, however they choose to word it. Since "automatic blog" owners don't manually copy and paste text, the whole text gets through, including the paragraph exposing them. Eventually, they end up giving up on stealing your content, it's just easier to find someone else's blog to pull content from than to manually edit your text to delete the first paragraph every time - they want a quick, effortless way to make money, give them something to edit and their motivation is gone. The downside is that this paragraph is posted on your blog too, but it's just a temporary fix until they give up so it can be worth it and I know that this solution has worked for some people. However, when someone is manually stealing your content, I would first try to get in touch with them directly (sometimes people don't realize they're not supposed to do that and a simple friendly email educating them is the solution), if that doesn't work, try contacting their hosting company and turning the website in to Google. Most hosts have copyright infringement and content theft policies covered in their terms of service and will take the blog/website down, so unless you're dealing with an unethical hosting company, this usually fixes the problem. Of course, if the person is seriously determined to publish your content somewhere else, they'll just find another host and this can end up being a cat and mouse chase, but that's not what usually happens.
