Default Template Problem

my site is SportsSoundOff.net - The Place to talk Sports
I like the front page of my site but how can I change my blog template be just like my front page. Also how can I add banners on the side of that template so I can put ads on them.

I kind of want to make my template look just like steve's site because I cant afford to hire a web designer and I want to keep it simple.
