Conspiracy-Forums Re-Review

Hey Everyone -

I'm asking for this re-review for a few reasons:

• I've recently coded in a TON of new features into my forums (See my News forum for what they are). Do these appeal to anyone?
• I've got some activity going on, and I didn't even have to register any "Fake Accounts" or anything like that.
• One more thing I wanted to ask is how does the content and quality of the posting look so far in the forum? I think I've got some activity occurring along with some pretty intriguing discussions taking place over there and I'd like some feedback on them.

Hey jamestl2,

The activity looks good! The theme is a bit dark / glossy for my taste. I personally like to stay on sites that are rather simple (reddit, craigslist, wikipedia, stevepavlina) styles.

I like the blog feed plugin, nice one! Let me see if I understand it: if a forum member has their own blog they can make their new posts auto create threads in your forums?

I think that'll be popular.

That was actually the idea I had in mind for my niche. It gives visitors a dark, ominious, conspiratorial, 1984 type-of feel to the forums.

Yep, I actually mentioned a suggestion like this for the SP Forums:

Anyone who's blog has an RSS feed, you just fill out the appropriate profile field (with the feed's URL), and your blog's most recent post written will be put into your profile's postbit, right below the avatar.

I would say you (the forums) are a little feature heavy and content light at this point, and that you should probably really work on creating content.

It's hard trying to convince people to join and create content. I suppose I'm *still* learning about the forum marketing aspects and where to find others that may be interested in these sort of things.

Also @Dan, what did you mean by "feature heavy"? Are you saying it's a bad thing? Or I just shouldn't focus on adding newer features as much?


If anyone else has comments on the design, content topics, etc., I'll be more than happy to hear about them .

I'm saying feature heavy is not as important as content heavy. Yes, you shouldn't focus on adding new features as much, but on writing good content.

People go to websites to learn and share..

Are you sure? I would have expected a lot of blogs on topics like the 911 conspiration and similar stuff.

A few blogs I've visited have talked about a couple of conspiracies, but none were really conspiracy-focused.

Brutha is right, there are a ton of blogs dealing with conspiracy, especially the 911 truth movement.

In addition you can follow the outward links and the backward links to a website like 911truth.org ::::: The 9/11 Truth Movement to find more blogs that deal with the topic.

In addition I don't really know whether people who are into that topic would label themselves as conspiracy-focused. They might rather like a label like truth-focused.
