Hey everyone, Is there a resident wordpress expert in the house? I'm customizing a wordpress blog and have the look/feel that I basically want at the moment. My current theme comes with an "archives" tab, and also archives.php, etc. Basically it seems like I should be able to automatically link to my archives, or have them show up when I click on the "archives" tab. Problem: Right now I can't get the "archives" tab to link to a page. It was originally coded to link to "/archives/" but that results in an error. I re-coded it to link to "/archives.php/" and that didn't work either. I have no idea how to get it to link correctly within wordpress. Any ideas? Thanks! -Sean |

It doesn't seem like you've set up your permalink structure just yet. Also do you know what your archives page is suppose to look like? Is it already finished etc.? What exactly is going to be in the page? One more thing to look at for now is the WP archives page in the codex: Creating an Archive Index « WordPress Codex |

Ack! Now my comments aren't working. Instead of directing to comments, it's going to "respond" within the archives directory. Does anyone know why this might be happening? For reference: Diet and Weight Loss — Tips to Lose Weight With the Foods You Love by Sean Bissell Thanks for all your help! Who knew setting up a blog would be so complicated. |

jamestl2, Thanks again! For the archives I changed the permalink structure within the general wp-admin and also added an archives page and linked it to the archives.php file. I'm not really sure if the comments were working beforehand... Any suggestions? |

Try changing it back to the default for now and we'll see what happens. Also, did you create the archives page via "Write Page" in the wp-admin? Or did you use some other program?

jamestl2, Thanks again for your help, I wouldn't be this far without you! I changed my permalink structure to: Date and name based Example: yummyweightloss .com/2008/01/23/sample-post This change allows me to see the comment box, but I have no submit button. And ontop of that this line of text (below) shows up below the comment box. Which shouldn't happen. Quote:
Any suggestions? Thanks! -Sean P.S. I used the write page within wp-admin to create the archive page. Last edited by VacMan; 01-23-2008 at 02:57 PM.
