| Just wondering what others consider the best blog site as far as formatting, ease of use, support and above all, traffic, is concerned. WordPress? TypePad? Other? If you have a sample blog in either I would love to see it. Thankx. |

| I've just started using Wordpress. I use Blogger on another, but I don't like it and will switch my other blog to Wordpress as well. The only thing I have found with wordpress is that you get spam, whereas I don't get any on blogger. You can however add a few plugins to wordpress to remove spam, but I wish it was done automatically. |

| Geeklog all the way. It's like WordPress, for people who know what they're doing.

| I use Blogger, but I may be switching to Squarespace. It looks promising. I haven't had a chance to explore/use it yet though.

| I adore Wordpress, just because it's what I'm comfortable with and I know what I'm doing when I use it. Why fix what isn't broken? EDIT - and as far as traffic is concerned, I personally believe traffic is based on how much you advertise your site and the content you have, so whatever program you use for blogging is irrelevant.

| It all depends on what you want to achieve and what type of blog you envisage. You said blog "site" rather than blog "software" - so I take it you are looking for a complete turn-key, ready-to-go system. Wordpress.com would probably be your best option - with one big caveat - with a Wordpress.com site you are NOT allowed to put AdSense ads. If you are prepared for the extra complications and having to find your own hosting etc. then you can obtain the Wordpress software yourself from Wordpress.org, install it and then put Ads or anything you like on it. Some hosting providers have a system that will do this for you at the click of a button. I use Blogger for my personal blog and an articles database i'm building: Tony's Blog Interkonetix Articles Blog The advantage of blogger is you can put ads if that's what you want to do and it's all nicely integrated with AdSense. There have been a lot of improvements to Blogger in recent months. A couple of features I really like: 1. Blogger integrates seamlessly with my Picasa photo albums. My albums are hosted on Picasa but there is an easy to use Blogger widget that allows you to stream pics from there to your blog. 2. Google Docs integrates with Blogger. I write my articles in Google Docs. I can then publish to Blogger with a single click. This is great as it makes publishing an article to multiple blogs easy. I will say that Wordpress is more flexible and more powerful than the Blogger software, but Blogger suits me for certain sites/blogs. I have created stand-alone website with Wordpress and I would highly recommend it. It's difficult to say which is the "best" blog site - it really comes down to want you want to do. |
