Default How do I create my own internet broadband service?

I know what I want but its hard to describe it. I've tried googling it but I don't seem to get the info I want or I am using the wrong keywords. So I will attempt to accurately describe what I want so that hopefully one of you will be able to help me out here and direct me on the right path.

The reason I want to create my own broadband internet service is so that I can do so without monthly costs (if thats at all possible) and that I can offer it for free.

So here goes...

I have a broadband internet connection service called Armstrong. I want to create a software (or hardware) or whatever it is so that I can create my own Armstrong broadband internet service or connection. Only it wouldnt be named armstrong, obviously. I also want to, after I am done with creating the software/connection/hardware/etc. create my own extensive wireless network.

When I say extensive, I mean it. I would theoretically want it to go out as many miles as possible, hopefully to empower a few cities (or atleast a few city blocks/etc.) I would want to offer it for free. I wouldnt want to pay any monthly costs to an internet service provider hence the reason I would want to create my own broadband internet connection.

I know there will be initial costs (such as for any servers that may be needed and equipment/software/hardware to buy to initially get my internet connection started.)

theoretically it can be done, but can it be done literally?

I would greatly appreciate any help on this.....

Why I would want to offer it for free? I figured it would be a great way to market my website. Name my internet broadband after an animal or species or something like that, refer them to my website to get the software (or something similiar) and then see how it may do with helping me with my adsense income. Besides it would be theoretically free for anyone to use, so people would have one less bill to pay for their internet service. You cannot beat free. Net Zero used to be free if you remember but now they charge money every month, so thats kinda where I got the idea from.

Besides of all the deals out there, you cannot beat FREE.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Your ISP has to pay other ISP's to route the traffic through them.

Becoming an ISP is a MASSIVE undertaking.

Not sure how it works in the states, but here in Australia you have to drop a fortune to get access to the telecommunications backbone. Not to mention the investment in routers and management software.

There are much easier and cheaper ways to promote your blog ...

Without spending millions and millions of dollars on your own infrastructure, the only way to become your own ISP is to resell the services of a larger provider. Even then, that costs you a fortune.

A friend of mine started an ISP about 2 years ago, and the connection to the backbone alone (reselling the services of Telstra), ran in the order of $10,000 a month for about 300-400 subscribers.

Unfortunately, your idea of offering free broadband to yourself and community, is a pipe dream.
