I see now that the PageRank of this page: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/ is only 4. How could this be for 1200+ back links? It was 7 in the past as far as I remember. What's gone wrong? Maybe there are some filters Google imprelemented? Anyone has any idea? |

PageRank is not important. It is calculated by links and links only.

I wonder has this had any effect on the traffic? 7 -> 4 looks like a tremendous drop! P. S. Probably that's because there are so many backlinks or there are high-traffic forums here, or simply it's some kind of manual switch for this high-traffic site after manual review... |

The pagerank you see on the google toolbar is not necessarly the same pagerank that they use to calculate the search results.

google changed some things around 2-3 months ago that basically caused a hugedrop in pagerank for a lot of sites. I dont remember what the gist of it was but i agree withthe sentiment that i couldnt care less about pagerank =) Besides i think steve mentioned that he doesnt rely on search engine traffic anyways. Which is the smart thing to do =)

How could they determine if they are paid or not?  Those links are very small addition to the entire web-site. I guess this web-site may be subject to manual review because of the huge traffic here.
