Help needed in updating blog...

Hi All,

I need assistance updating my wordpress blog from version 1.5 to the current 2.3.

I am a bit of a techie but unfortunately web stuff is my weakness. I did attempt to do an upgrade about two months ago and I followed the instructions from the wordpress support site word for word but I had issues. Would anyone have the time to spend a couple of hours perhaps helping me to upgrade?

I have some time over xmas next week and I was thinking of doing it then.

Hi Amit

I use word press for my personal blog even though i haven't updated yet which i will properly have to do,updating shouldn't be too complex if you haven't modified the existing word press code by hand.

Have you modified the word press installation by hard coding some stuff?

Also try updating a new installation of word press and if that works try adding your modifications one by one until you see where it's breaking.

Hey Saif,

Thanks for the response. Yep I haven't really done any major hardcoding changes...the only thing really is a few changes to the sidebar and that's only including that ad boxes and sitemeter etc which shouldn't have made any difference as I reverted back to the default theme before attempting the upgrade process.

Yeah I'm definitely going to give it another go over xmas and see if the same thing happens again...to me though as I was following the upgrade process through as per the instructions on wordpress...it just seemed like it was missing a step or two...like I said I'm no expert...but from a tech perspective...something just didn't seem right!

But if anyone is willing to offer me help please let me know!
