Nice. You might also enjoy this article on another invention that creates oil from most anything carbon based:

That is cool alright - but I swear, nothing beats a Magnegas generator, it also recycles anything with carbon in it (plant matter, oil, tires, etc...) but generates a gas that is burnable and only produces a fraction of the pollution that natural gas or petro produces...

The technology has been around since the 1800's and is actually in use already by big corporations and recycling facilities in Europe, Israel, and India (it recycles human waste into burnable fuel, *that* is cool).

Magnegas Corp. <- one waste treatment facility with this technology could provide an enormous amount of fuel and energy.

Quote:
The quality of Magnegas exhaust is dramatically better than that of natural gas and gasoline. Magnegas exhaust is much lower than EPA requirements; has about 50% less green gases (CO 2) than gasoline exhaust; and contains 9% to 12 % breathable oxygen. Magnegas(TM) is the only known fuel whose exhaust can sustain life (hydrogen exhaust cannot sustain life because of the lack of oxygen). Note that the data on Magnegas could be improved by optimization of timing and stochiometric ratio.
I don't work for this company at all, I just hope for its widespread adoption...

It sounds good to me and if I should be able to go down to my neighborhood wall mart and buy a Mr. Fusion I'll be at the beginning of the line.

On a more serious note I think this and other methods mentioned in this thread offer a realistic supplement or alternative to the traditional energy sources and will become even more possible in the not so distant future.

Yes, but nothing beats the guy who made an engine that ran on regular water. What was it, like 99 miles per gallon?

Oh wait, too bad he was mysteriously found dead and all his work was gone.

No, the water fuel cell idea has been thoroughly debunked.

Now the aircar on the other hand... that's the real deal right there.

The questions is:
How much energy to you have to put into the Microwave to get a certain amount of oil?

@ Brutha,

If you read the article, you will see the answer to your question in the second paragraph.

Quote:
Every hour, the first commercial version will turn 10 tons of auto waste—tires, plastic, vinyl—into enough natural gas to produce 17 million BTUs of energy (it will use 956,000 of those BTUs to keep itself running).
