Default Conspiracy-Forums.com Review

Hey everyone, haven't been around in awhile, due to the weeks I've been spending preparing my brand new forums, based on conspiracies.

I know I don’t have very many topics or discussion going on, I basically just launched it.

What does everyone think of the design?
How about the category structures?
Etc.

Does everything run smoothly?
Are there any broken links, database problems, other errors I may have missed?

If I require new information, thoughts, etc. I’ll post it later.
The link is in my signature

Thanks for looking at my new site

I like the overall look. The blues are "friendly" to my eyes while still feeling energetic.

I'm with Gene on this. I like the blue. It has a nice "futuristic" feel to it. Maybe that's not the right word, but whatever... looks modern, cutting edge and all that.

Mind you, there was really only one gunman - Oswald - and we really DID go to the moon.

Hey James, I'm a conspiracy buff so I went ahead and registered for an account. It worked, but when entering my email address the text color was barely visible against the background. Also, I played around with posting stuff, and I don't really like the dark blue background against the text I'm trying to type.

I think a good Forum main topic would be movie and book reviews. People could recommend good conspiracy stuff they have seen and also pick stuff apart and post confirmations/rebuttals to the points made in each.

Cool forum, I hope you're able to draw some traffic.

Oh, I also just noticed that the time did not post correctly. It is 10:00 pm here, but the time on my forum post says 4:00 am.

Is it just the color scheme overall you're not sure about? Or just posting a reply? Or reading threads etc.?

I'm not sure also because the main "reading sections" so to say, have a lavenderish type of color, which doesn't look that dark against the text.

Also, was there something particular about the email section for you, because when I tried registering, I could see it just fine, it looked just like all the other fields to fill out.

The movie book review thing sounds interesting, maybe I'll make a sticky thread based on it or something, still haven't decided yet

Thanks again for registering
I've still got a long ways to go when considering promotion, traffic, etc.

I like the color scheme overall. It is just when posting threads I like to type against a light background.

Maybe it's a Firefox issue. Here's how it looks for me:

And I just found something else I don't like. The "Log Out" is way at the bottom of the page. I like it more prominent, like on Steve's...

None of these are major issues and I do like the look overall. But you asked. How are you planning to draw people? Will you be writing articles?

That's odd, because here's what it looks like for me, and I'm also using FF:

It has the same color scheme for things like registering, reading posts etc.

It's not a web browser issue, so I don't know why your's is different than mine

There's nothing I can really do for the logout placement, it's part of the theme I chose.

I'm still working on the marketing portion, haven't quite figured out how I'm going to work on attracting visitors just yet.

How does my forum hierarchy look to everyone? Are Entertainment, Business conspiracies really important enough to have their own forum?

I was having hosting issues for the past few weeks or so, in case anyone was trying to reach the URL, but they're back now, which makes me very happy .

So I'm still open to suggestions comment, etc. if you guys have any.

James,

What content is there on your site that will draw people in?

For example, I watched this BBC documentary this week - The Power of Nightmares Part 1: Baby it's Cold Outside - by Adam Curtis. It makes a strong case that the CIA invented Al-Qaeda.

Comments?

You may also want to check out No End in Sight for a superb overview of recent history and conspiracy revolving around the so called "War on Terror."

Thanks for the advice Dan, I'll check that stuff out. Not quite sure how I'm going to significantly promote the forums exactly just yet.

Also @lauxa & ZHereford:
My old host was being a *****, so I lost the members memory, my last backup was before you guys joined, so if you want to rejoin and/or discuss about conspiracies, feel more than welcome to .

I don't think that you can start a forum without momentum. If there is nothing going on nobody will join.

Usually you would start by writing about or teaching a subject that interests you.

Here is a list of the top 25 censored news stories of 2007. All of these are worth some research if you are so inclined.

This is really my first attempt at building a community. So I'm new to the marketing aspect of it.

@Dan - When you say "start with something that interests you", are you referring to just making threads in my forums about different conspiracies, or going to other places and spreading ideas around, then referring them to my forums?

I also forgot to ask everyone:

Should I just come up with threads myself to give the forum an "illusion" of activity (despite the fact that no one will reply to me)?

Or should I look to pay some people to post on it, just to give it some momentum or something?

(I'm kind of new to this whole "community-building" concept)
