Default Laptop fan overheating?

Hi, i have a new laptop i got about two weeks ago, its a dell latitude d420. Occasionally it gets quit hot and the mouse cursor freezes, i assume its from overheating. Is there a way to regulate the temperature of the computer? i found this programme..any opinions? Download SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Not sure if this is related since you say you just got this machine. Dell Laptops are pretty bad at this. Check and make sure you do not have any dust on the coils beside the fan. You will proably need to take the cover off the bottom ( not sure on this model, but they are usally two of the fan covers closest to the display. If its making a noise that is louder than usaul then this could be the culprit.

You should probably also call Dell since this machine is new. Better to do it now that get stuck with a machine that is dead after the warrenty expires.
