a few things really....please bear with me as I attempt to describe what I want to change/modify to my wordpress theme.. 1. Archiving. I have set my wordpress blog to show three posts per page in order to comply with google's TOS. What I am wondering is, for the viewer, if say, one day I posted 5 posts, and my blog only has it set to show 3 posts, how do I get the other posts to show up? When I click the archive section, it doesn't show anything but three posts. (I want it to be like....show three posts, then provide a link at the bottom to the next page for the next three posts, etc...if you get my drift...like the example below.. I just hope it shows up correctly...) This is my first post (this is the adsense) this is my second post (this is the adsense) this is my third post (this is the adsense) << first 1 2 3 next>> last>> 2. Calendar. I want one of those nice little calendar tile looking thingies on my site that have the day underlined so when you click on whatever day you want, you get that days posts...(with the links etc..) thats all I can think of as of right now...PLEASE HELP!! |

Hi Vet Tech Jess, I checked out the site and it looks pretty good. I'm not quite sure about the "calendar thingy." Go to your wordpress and click on the "presentation" tab, then click "widgets" then check if you can drag "calendar" onto the sidebar. Let me know if this works! I have a quick question for you. How do you get the wordpress "sidebar" to the left side of your site? |

VetTechJess, I use AdSense in most of my blogs and I have more than 3 posts showing in the home page. Have you tried pasting the AdSense code and setting WP to show more than 3 posts? In my blogs, no matter how many post I have set up to show in the home page, AdSense only appears in the first three, so you might want to try that yourself - unless you really want only 3 posts to show, in which case the navigation links at the bottom you described should already be in your theme. If not, you can easily find the code at the WP codex under "tags" and then all you have to do is add them to your theme where you want the links to appear. As for the calendar, calendars look cute and all but I'm not sure they are all that useful. My guess is that most people don't use it. You see, when someone is looking for information, they are more likely to run a search rather than try to guess when you posted about it. I refrain from using calendars because they take up space in the sidebar and don't add much to the visitor's experience. |
