Default Files Sharing Clients P2P

Hi

Could anyone advise what the best P2P client is for a slow internet connection .ie dial-up @ 40kps

Would it be a BitTorrent client or something like emule or edonkey?

Does it make a difference? Reason I ask, I heard that a BitTorrent client is faster but availability of files is less and emule is slower but has more files available?

There must be a geek out there that knows these things!

For newer things, such as the newest release of Knoppix, bit torrent will be faster as there is a lot of people sharing it. Older things (eg. original release of Knoppix) are generally easier to find on eMule, as there would be less people seeding on BT. However, considering your connection even just one seeder on an old torrent would be enough to max out your connection. ;p

Thanks ML

Unfortunately where I live we cant get anything other than dial-up and I refuse to pay the huge upfront costs for satellite connection to broadband
