I'm just wondering why.

Here's a bunch of pages that compare the two:

Personally I use Wordpress because I heard that it had better search engine optimization capabilities and it's very extensible with all the plugins and themes you can download. (Here I'm talking about wordpress.org, where you download the wordpress software and then upload it to a hosted space of your choosing)

I love wordpress because it give me a kind of ownership feeling. I can host wordpress in my hosting under my domain name. I don't think blogger allow me to do this.

I've only tried Wordpress, but I've been pretty impressed with it so far.

There are a few things that seriously annoy me though. It seems to parse code I enter in very strange ways and I have a difficult time setting up whitespace how I want it; for some reason it won't let met just add linebreaks without parsing them. Embedding videos was a peculiar operation as well.

But it does do a million things I need it to do.

I love the customisability of wordpress. It's theme and plugin system is pretty nice. As a programmer I can quickly do anything I want with it without having to fuss around.

It also has good documentation and a good community behind it.

Blogger sucks. They can (and do) take it down at any time through some automated spam filters.

Never, ever, ever use blogger for any kind of blog that is important to you.

Simply put, WordPress is a far more robust and flexible platform.
