| I disabled comments for all my blog posts both universally and on each individual post. So why do I still get spam comments to moderate in Wordpress? Trackbacks I got no problem with. But how are the comments getting through?

| Bots do not need the human interface to send spam, so removing your comments box may not help. I would try installing a CAPTCHA plugin. It may stop the bots, and since manual comments aren't allowed, no persons will be annoyed by it.

| Either that or you can alternatively change the comments.php file name. Comments are enabled in my blogs and some of them use a CAPTCHA plugin, but even while using the plugin, some spam still gets through. Because some bots rely on the default naming of files in WordPress, if you change the comments.php to something else entirely, this makes it harder for them to recognize the file. And if you ever want to enable comments again, just rename the file back to what it was or change the code calling for it in the theme to reflect the new file name. |

| Hi Erin, You could also try to install a Plugin, such as the Spam Karma one. This one is actually better than Akismet. Monika |

| Simpler solution: Since you have comments disabled, the only comments you are getting are from spammers. Why not just ignore the comments in moderation and/or periodically mass delete them? |

| Because I also am approving legitimate trackbacks so I can't just let the spam comments pile up.

| Ah, my mistake. I forgot about trackbacks. |
