Default Going from blog to website

Should I copy all my previous material from my wordpress blog into my new site or just continue where I left off? I suppose if my issue isn't SEO (duplicate content), it doesn't matter?

Wordpress really is not meant for anything other than a blog. Some extensions have tried to make it into a CMS, but it still pales in comparison to the competition. ExpressionEngine is the absolute best, but you have to pay $99, with a 40 buck annual fee.

I'm not too sure what will happen if you try to transfer everything. I know EE has a function to transfer stuff from Movable Type blogs, but some people have pain with it. Check out the EE site.

EllisLabs (creators of ExpressionEngine) is a very reliable and thoughtful bunch of people.

I used to use their CodeIgniter framework for my projects which is based off of ExpressionEngine's code branch - very powerful, reliable, and feature rich.

Use ExpressionEngine if you are going into the CMS idea - worth every penny (plus you get good support I believe).

Oh, that's easy then. You can export all your data from wordpress and then import it into your new site. Check the WP help - it's all in the admin area.
