"Stranger in a Strange Land" - Robert Heinlein. Peasy. :p

My answer to the question would probably be what I thought your blog title was;

Life Lessons? Live!

P.S. Is it possible to make the link in your blog post point directly to the appropriate thread, please?

Best advice my Dad's ever given me...

I pass out this advice to everyone, and try to live by it, as well. It comes via my Dad, who's very wise!

You can't turn down what hasn't been offered.

I use that advice as motivation to go after things without cutting myself off because of doubt or fear. It's always been helpful.

Enjoy the workshop, everyone!

All of life hinges on the moment.

Radical 11-11-2006 08:36 PM

You only get one shot at life. You can waste it worrying, or cherish every moment. Whatever you do it's your choice.

This is NOT a rehearsal; this is the main event. Act accordingly.

Find what it is you have in common with all human beings.

Dignity and Respect

It is impossible to treat fellow human beings with dignity and respect unless we treat ourselves with dignity and respect.

KeithHandy 11-11-2006 09:57 PM

Make the most of what you have, and then you will get more.

Think for yourself... I can't sum what I know in one phrase.

You can only count on yourself.

“The things you own end up owning you.” - Joey Vaux

that is a quote from fight club.

Friend

"A friend is a stranger you haven't met (got to know) yet." My father taught me this by example. :) "I'd rather have friends than all the money in the world, cause if you've got friends you don't need money."

"If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance!"

no, this one is better:
"If we all worked on the assumption that what is accepted as true were really true, there would be little hope of advance." Orville Wright

my personal favorite (still on trial, don't take it for granted yet ;)
"It is a funny thing about life: if you refuse to accept anything but the best you very often get it." W. Somerset Maugham

for less ambitious people:
"If you can get nothing better out of the world, get a good dinner out of it, at least." Herman Melville

still working on my personal message...

I recognized it too. I love Fight Club. It is in my top ten movies for sure:

"Only when you've lost everything are you free to do anything"

I love that one.

favorite quote and great advice

I must pass on my all time favorite quote by an unknown author:

"Let everything about you breathe the calm and peace of the soul".

elainevdw 11-13-2006 03:09 AM

"Indeed there will be time to wonder, Do I dare? and Do I dare?" - T.S. Eliot

You will never run out of time to be indecisive. But if you don't dare to do something -- you'll never do anything at all.

How do you like it?
