I really liked Ray Kurzweil's book The Singularity is Near, which talks about reverse-engineering the human brain, biological immortality, cheap energy, and the merger of human and artificial intelligence.

Vacuum Diagrams by Stephen Baxter is a wonderful collection of short-stories set in the future. Both the near future and hundreds of thousands of years into the very far away future. Actually, if i remember correctly I think it goes so far into the future that it reaches the end and destruction of the universe.

I'm glad you asked it, because i love the issue. I agree with Zukin; Kurzweil's books are the best for predicting the future IMO. Here is a link where you will get an idea of what kurzweil's idea of the future is. ImmInst.org -> Singularity FAQ for Dummies And then there's also his website that got a lot of content about the future KurzweilAI.net |
