Would there be a way to get these forums to go somewhere else? Or we could all go somewhere else...but I doubt any forum would be of this quality ever again, so I guess for now my forum days are pretty much over.

I know the forums there are not hard to set up. If someone wanted to set up a forum, this would be one easy way to do it. ActiveBoard: Forum hosting, messageboard software - create a free forum

I agree with Steve's decision and his reasoning for closing down the forums. We realize it's a valuable place for so many people, and I hope everyone will find and make connections in their offline world and stay in touch with friends they've made online. people have asked me if I am willing to host the forums on my site, but I am not. It was a headache for Steve and he had the technical expertise to maintain the site. I do not, nor would I want to learn. I myself derived a great deal of value from the forum. I've met many friends here that have become friends offline. We will find new ways to stay in touch. You can friend me on facebook if you like, and don't forget that Steve still posts on Google+. And remember that every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. Go forth boldly. Seek out those around you who are into conscious growth. Learn and practice growth together. |

Sadsauce, there's a lot of good material here. Seems to be a common theme, someone provides something awesome for a community, eventually burns out on it, and then something explodes and they pull completely out. After reading the other thread it's totally understandable that you're salty on the whole thing though.

Admittedly, I really didn't use the forum too often. There were a few times that I found great advice about SBI and books to read, like "Millionaire Fastlane" from other forum members. I was very grateful for these recommendations from like-minded individuals. I get the most value, though, from Steve's blog articles. Keep 'em comin'! I think when you have so many different opinions and agendas in one place, it's hard to make all of that into a cohesive "whole". When a forum deals with just one type of thing, like a piece of software, for example - Adobe Photoshop, then the forum posts can easily be kept on track. They either deal with real objective functions of the software, or they don't. Personal development, though, seems to have so many different aspects and avenues to go down. I wonder how much of it is subjective and how much is objective? Well... anyway... I'm rambling here, so I'll just end by saying "Thank you" to all the members who posted good solid advice that helped me to get steered in the right direction. |

Why? What happened exactly? The blog article about it was kinda cryptic. Anybody got any other forums that they recommend? I like this one: MerlinWorld's Forums: Discussion forums on the Subconscious Mind, Law of Attraction • Index page It's small but i like it. |

This place has held high regard for me. I've gotten tons of value from the forums, and though I've taken my PD efforts afk recently I wouldn't have made the progress I've made without this place. So thanks for allowing it to be, and I'm sorry to see it go but everything changes so I'll roll with it. Thanks for holding important space for me while I needed it. |

| Jesus Lauren! Do you realise you are pulling facts out of your bum? Angela was invited to pdforyou.com. She is not the owner. She eventually joined the council as other people did. I've been there as long as she has. What you read is Steve' s assumptions and emotional reaction to these assumptions. Get your information right before saying things like these. As ALG said before, we are on Facebook, Google+ and other forums... helloooooo basic freedom for us to hang wherever we like???? We do not "belong" to this site. We contribute to this site. See the difference?

I've said this before ... But thanks again for this forum. I've enjoyed it in my brief time here. I was sad to witness how everything unfolded yesterday and at the idea of this forum being shutdown, BUT today i am looking forward to new adventures! Happy new endeavours to all! |

And yep, good luck to you too, and "see ya!" (obviously not at pdforyou where some of your "amazing friends" are hanging, by the way). Bye bye everyone.

It intrigues me how 2012 will have many changes. I see it here, I see it in myself, I see it in friends and family and even in strangers around me. Things are shifting, and liberation will kick ass! Farewell, amigos and amigas! This midwinter, this mist will finally be drifting. By the way, Steve, take it easy on the explosives! I understand the preparations, but what's with the claymores!? Watch where y'all tread, now. |

If you really read the blog and the link to the one about tolerance vs. love you will see Steve is not just reacting to what some former members did. This decision was a long time coming. If you fell out of love with your gf/bf, would you force yourself to continue the relationship just because they wanted you to? There is a tipping point where providing value for others is trumped by "do I really want to do this anymore? And is this the best use of my time?" Obviously the answer became no. I really appreciated the forums and would like to thank Steve for providing them, but I fully embrace his decision now. It sets a very powerful example. Quote:
I don't know what "tons" breaks down to in numbers but it sounds like more than enough to pay for itself. Could be a great opportunity for someone. The problem is, how would you capture all those "lurkers" from here?

Thanks Steve and everyone. In the brief time when I ran my own forum years ago, I felt so burdened by it and I was so relieved when I finally couldn't continue it anymore (thanks to the social networking site it was on changing its rules). My forum had been taking way too much time/energy away from things that I felt would probably, down the road, contribute a lot more value to people (and improve my own life as well) than if I continued unhappily forcing myself into a role I just wasn't naturally suited to, or even really drawn to (except in theory). So, I sympathize a lot with your blog post and totally support you in your decision to close the forum. I look forward to all the awesome things you'll be creating in the future. Thanks for everything. I was too shy/busy/etc. to post as much as I otherwise might have here, and no one here knows me very well, but, thanks to everyone for making this forum such an awesome, fascinating, helpful place. Best wishes and hugs (if desired) to everyone, including the banned folks. Apollia |
