I have never felt completely at peace about leaving my high paying corporate job until I read this article. And it has been quite a few years since this happened. Now I understand my resistance to RESUMing a life as corporate soldier. I was head of a marketing group responsible for 450 million dollars in annual product sales. Although I received a six-figure compensation package, a generous expense account, five star travel opportunities, and a new high-end company car every year I was not happy with the work that I was doing. It always felt out of alignment with the kind of man that I wanted to be. It wasn’t all bad though. I learned a lot about business, took a lot of classes and seminars, and traveled to many beautiful places around the world. I just could not completely embrace their sales and marketing philosophies. I prefer -- what I going to call after reading this article -- the Pavlina Marketing Method (PMM). It took quite some time for me to break free of the corporate mentally. A mentally that is an absolute requirement for success within many corporate CULTures. I am now grateful that I didn’t fall back into that life. Steve, you would have never made it in the corporate world, which is a compliment, BTW. Although I would have delighted in seeing you perform as you are today within the corporate structure as I knew it. At least until you quit or got fired. Either of which would be a victory! I really enjoyed that article. As a mod, I'm particularly happy about the forum direction. But on a personal level, I have not always made conscious or deliberate decisions, but I can see that many of my decisions - which seemed contrary and contentious at the time - were actually me fighting for what I really wanted to be. Leaving a marriage, changing my name, moving to a new country, all of those were steps toward becoming who I want to be and having the life experience I want to have as a result. It also puts an interesting framework on my "stubborn" tendency to say "No, I'm not going to do that, because I don't want to do it." While that CAN be just plain bloodymindedness, in recent years as I've become more and more conscious and more aware, I've just decided that I'm going to do what I want to do, and other than honouring obligations that I have chosen to accept, I'm not going to do things I don't want to do. I choose to be responsible (that is a choice, not a requirement), and I choose to be authentic, and I choose to do what I want and not what people tell me to want. I think I've just had a consciousness shift. I love it when that happens. |

Hi, everyone. I enjoyed reading this post as well. I do feel that it was so wrong for that workshop attendee to request a refund to pay rent. I feel nauseous whenever I think about it! See some of you at the CSW! I've been re-reading parts of Steve's book. Is there anything else that I should do to prepare for the workshop? On the other hand, maybe the key for me is to stop worrying, relax, be open to new discoveries, and be conscientious about the right things. |

Hi Friends, My income's most major part is the foreign country creates the propaganda. If always then does the suitable dash, may tolerate moves then restores these to state. I do not want the facility and the comfortable life. Entire platform not only of the taken matter of cab, probably it left the relative end of the center with the point. Food, every one. Steve, congrats on saying no to easy money (AdSense). To me it's a clear sign of integrity and something that not a lot of people would have done. It shows your commitment to keeping your site the best place it can be and to improving that infamous signal-to-noise ratio. I would like to attend. I don't know if I will find a way but I thought I should share. One of my reasons is networking woth growth-oriented, positive people. Who is going for certain?

Hey Steve, The whole thing with not offering a guarantee for your Workshops sort of puzzled me Steve. I'm not sure if it's a block or a just your perspective on offering a guarantee... I'm not sure how you wrote your guarantee (at the time), but I've never had someone ask for their money back when I offer a guarantee with my coaching (and it's been 3 years). It has never failed and I believe it's because of the way I write my guarantees. For one, I never take responsibility for my clients results. However, I do say, "If you're not completely happy after 30 days, you can have all of the coaching call recordings, ALL of the extra bonuses and you get a full refund - no questions asked," which I honour because I know they will get results if they use and apply the strategies I suggest. So that way... it feels right to me and the people buying from me feel there is no risk and that they are getting a fair deal. Win-win, ya know? I get what you're saying about it feeling right... so maybe a bit of shifting of words might help with your guarantee so you can help more people and transform more lives... Hope that helps, Steve |

Great post I think having a money back guarantee for a 3 day workshop is crazy. I mean I understand it for buying a physical product, but a workshop? Attending a workshop is always a risk. thats why you have to be smart in choosing. Its like going to a show. If you dont like the concert you get your money back I have no doubt I would find your workshops beneficial bc your way of thinking resonates with me. I trust you. (But still haven't found the time) Ive attended several workshops in my life and theyve always been amazing bc I knew the speakers work and trusted them. |

A gym doesn't offer a money back guarantee, nor does a theatre, nor does a private school, etc. I would never expect a seminar or workshop to offer a money back guarantee, any more than I'd expect an opera to refund my money if I didn't like the show.

Landmark offers you your money back if you want to leave during the first couple of hours. I think they do that mostly to get rid of the people who are committed to getting bad or no results, who are going to inhibit the other participants in getting results.
