Wow! This post really hit the mark. I've been reading and implementing a lot of the stuff that Steve's been talking about since I was 14-15 years old. Today, I'm 22 and I too find myself in this corporate world shocked at what I've become. I'm trying the entrepreneurial part in most of my spare time, but that's something I do need help with so that I can automate it and focus on the stuff that truly matters!

I am surrounded by people that are not fully conscious, and I crave to be out. Being with other like minded people, especially my age would make a tremendous difference to me. It gives me the chance to realise I'm not alone, and also have a chance to help one another out.

I'm in Toronto. I'm not sure how any of this would work.

YO STEVE!

I'm actually going to try a you tactic and hug these guys to death.

I think it might actually be crazy enough to work...

If you're in the field, hug a cop and get a pic:

Default Local group on Meetup

Meetup would be the best place to start.

Group name: ‘Living Consciously’

There could be other name, but have the same name everywhere, not different names depending on how the organizer felt like.

Reading the book was like eating cotton candy, it tastes good but doesn't get you full. Steve's blog was actually informative and for me would be like eating a healthy meal and the book is the dessert. I read the book though as I am a big fan of Jack Canfield's and wanted to see what he is currently up to.

When I first read the book I thought "This book is written by rich white people with too much time on their hands." I felt that with all of the problems going on in the world, to gather ten million people to throw a new "birth-day" for the planet sounded ridiculous. It would take thousands of people and cost A LOT of money. On the other hand, I feel like if we have that many people in unison, the amount of energy being pumped out could cause a planetary shift, and if anyone could do it Jack Canfield could. We waste money on wars and killing each other, maybe it is time we shift our perspective and put our energy where it could be used for something better.

I just started reading this book, and am delighted to read about Jack's childhood in my own childhood town of Wheeling, WV. I agree with him about Wheeling in that there is beauty in every direction and drinking is a major outlet among people.

For me, growing up in Wheeling was definitely a positive thing in most respects, especially education. Canfield went to a prestigious former military high school, which even in my later time, was still considered one of the best high schools in the valley. I'm sure it still is. I know several people who went there, and they are all highly intelligent people.

I think West Virginia is hurting - like a lot of people are these days. West Virginians' loyalties are in question as we struggle between our identity as a collective force against outside interests, and our identity as a backbone of American values.

Are the two mutually exclusive?

Default Enlightening read

Thank you Tim for these links to Charles Eisenstein's 'Sacred Economics' and 'Ascent of Humanity'. Sacred Economics is the most enlightening read I've had on economics and is filling in a whole lot of questions I've always had.

you can read this book online for free, it pretty much nails the sustainability issue.
Home - Ascent of Humanity

And another book (in a series of blog posts) also for free which I am really finding though provoking "sacred economics" provides ideas and possible solutions to the "bits we need to fix"
.
Sacred Economics: Chapter 1, "The Gift World" (Pt. 2) | Reality Sandwich
Sacred Economics: Chapter 2, "The Illusion of Scarcity" (Pt. 3) | Reality Sandwich
Sacred Economics: Chapter 3, "Money and the Mind" (Pt. 4) | Reality Sandwich
and so on...
