Learning Music - Day 11 (Blog) |
Sorry I can't help with the garageband problem but while your melody is simple to play on its own, mathematically, it can cause problems when you add rhythm. To feel what is happening you could tap out the triplet pattern with one hand and try to tap out the eighth note pattern with the other hand at the same time. You are essentially playing 3/4 against 4/4. Not so easy. This could be what you are asking the computer to do. If you play the melody in 12/8 you will keep the triplet feel but the 1/8 notes will start to 'swing' i.e. the first note will last for two 1/8s and the second for 1/8 which is not the effect you want. Your melody is shifting between the two metres which is quite common in blues music. I hope this isn't too confusing. |
