Default I find content link ads distracting on stevepavlina.com

I enjoy reading articles on stevepavlina.com, but I find the content link ads distracting.

"Content link" ads are the ad links that appear in the middle of the content (that is, in Steve's words themselves). For example, here's a screen shot from the homepage:

Instead of reading in an easy flow and absorbing the content, I stumble over the bold underlined ad.

Content link ads are created by JavaScript, so I am able to turn off the ads myself by disabling JavaScript. In FireFox, I use the NoScript extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722) to do this.

No worries. The Kontera ads have already been discontinued. I didn't have high hopes for these ads, but I wanted to test them for a few weeks to see what the effect would be. I dropped them for several reasons:
  • weak performance compared to Adsense and other ad programs
  • the invasive way the ads are injected into content
  • low ad relevancy
  • negative visitor feedback
I often run experiments to try out new ideas. Chalk this one up as a failure in terms of results, but a learning experience nonetheless. I do appreciate the feedback.
