Um, I feel the entire approach is questionable...both, what Steve already has and what you are proposing...

Sorry, but honestly both of them fall short of what Stevepavlina.com is actually about. And instead feel too heavy and kinda cheap.
The change in colours and gradient don't make a whole lot of difference in my opinion. You alterations are definitely an improvement on the aesthetics of it, but this seems more like decorating then designing. I mean it doesn't add value to the content of this site.

@glow I appreciate your feedback for Andreas but I think you could be a bit clearer on what you would actually like? Otherwise it sounds just negative. I think anyone could say that Andreas' work looks more professional than what Steve has up now. At the very least you can give him that. If it's not what Steve Pavlina.com is actually about what do you think it IS about? How can he do this better, in your opinion?

Alice, ksirminoh, Andrew, et al.

Glad you enjoy them! Thanks for the feedback!

glow,

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate all feedback because it pushes me to grow.

Site graphics don't add value to the content, but they can be used to represent the principles behind the content. When Steve added the Truth/Love/Power pyramid to the header, I thought it was a brilliant idea, albeit a bit rough. So, inspired by his new header, I went into Photoshop, revised it, and published it here uncopyrighted.

The bottom line is, I think Steve is one of the brilliant writers of our time. And I don't say this lightly. I can't imagine how many years it took to really hone-in on Truth, Love, and Power as the fundamental principles of growth, and I know they belong in whatever site graphics he uses.

I've seen firsthand how the use of geometry, ratios, and balance can change how a site is felt by the user, as well as how memorable it is. I think Steve realizes this, too. So this project was an attempt to bring Steve's graphic design up to the same incredible level as his writing, but in a way that resonated with him. (Kind of a tall order, but I like challenges)

He hasn't said anything about the latest iteration yet, but I'm going to keep periodically throwing pancakes at the wall until something sticks; because I love this site, and I love this project. And if Steve ever tells me I've finally hit on something that resonates with him, that's wonderful and he can have it uncopyrighted.

If not, well, that's life.

However, Andrew is right. I welcome constructive criticism

You're right Andrews, I should have elaborated a bit.
Sorry Andreas, I really didn't mean to sound negative.

I just meant to say that every single pixel on a website page has to add some value to the site, otherwise it really doesn't have any reason to be there. In my opinion a more minimalistic look would be more powerful and better suited to Steve's website.

By the way I read a good part of your blog several months ago and I find your fascination with colour very interesting.
